Borussia Dortmund came from behind to win 3-2 against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park. Mahmoud Dahoud scored the winner in the 89th minute to win it for the black and yellow. Dortmund closed the gap between their rivals at the top of the table to 6 points after their thrilling victory.

Dortmund dominated the possession with 64 % of the ball against Frankfurt. Moreover, they had more shots on target (8) compared to Frankfurt (5). Dortmund players were on song and deserved to win.

Dortmund conceded early in the game. Kostic delivered a wonderful ball from a set piece and Rafael Santos Borre Maury made no errors to bury the ball in the back of the net. Frankfurt doubled their lead in the 24th minutes when Dortmund defenders were caught sleeping. Maury added another to his tally.

Dortmund players took time to settle in. Thorgan Hazard finished well after a gritty run to reduce the deficit. Jude Bellingham equalized with just 3 minutes remaining on the clock. Mahmoud Dahoud scored a banger from the outside of the box to complete the comeback.

Borussia Dortmund completed the double over Eintracht Frankfurt in this season. Let’s look into the player ratings of the Dortmund players:


Gregor Kobel (GK) – 5/10

Kobel was beaten easily before the first goal. Although, he made crucial saves to keep Dortmund in the game.

Thomas Meunier (RB) – 5/10

The Belgian almost scored a goal to make it 1-0 early in the game. It struck the post. He also assisted the 2nd goal. But he was horrible in defense and gave away the ball that led to Frankfurt’s second goal.

Emre Can (CB) – 4/10

Emre Can played as a center-back but he was too unstable in defense. He gave away the free-kick near his box that led to Frankfurt’s second goal. He had a horrific game and Lindstrom got the better of him early in the second half. But, Kobel saved Dortmund from going three down.

Mat Hummels (CB) 6/10

Hummels was the only defensive player that was mentally present on the pitch. He was too quick to his lines and came close to scoring in the first half. He almost scored an own goal later in the evening but Kobel parried it away.

Rafael Guerreiro (LB) – 5/10 

Guerreiro also had a rough game. Lindstrom caught him napping a few times. He looked comfortable while attacking.


Mahmoud Dahoud (CM) – 7/10 

Dahoud scored a late winner but he was not able to control the game.

Marc Roca (CM) – 4/10

Brandt was substituted on the 65th minute and did not contribute much in the game when the team needed him the most.

Jude Bellingham(CM) – 7/10

Bellingham was agile and worked hard to get on the ball. He passed with precision and always had Frankfurt on their toes. He also scored the equalizer in the 87th minute.


Marco Reus (LW) – 5/10

Reus was responsible for Eintracht Frankfurt’s second goal. He was struggling before Thorgan Hazard’s arrival but after that it allowed him to play at his natural position.

Erling Haaland (ST) – 5/10

Haaland set Thorgan Hazard for the opening goal. But the Norwegian was pocketed by Hinteregger for large parts of the game.

Donyell Malen (LW) – 5/10 

Malen lost possession quite often. Moreover, the Dutchman had the chance to make it 2-1 in the 45th minute. Instead, he hit the woodwork from a close range. He improved in the second half and almost provided the team with a goal.


Thorgan Hazard (6/10)

Hazard came off the bench and brought Dortmund back in the game. Hazard was too direct and too hot for Frankfurt’s backline.
