With the winter break nearing its end, the German clubs are blown away with the number of Coronavirus cases in the team sheet, Bundesliga is set to return on the 8th of January 2022.

Defending champion Bayern Munich is one of the worst-hit clubs currently in terms of players and coaching staff testing positive for the COVID test. Players returned to the camp and the training sessions were put back until the late afternoon to test the players and staff.

Bayern Munich’s captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman, Corentin Tolisso, Omar Richards and assistant coach Dino Toppmöller, all tested positive with the omicron variant.

The league leaders are set to play Borussia Mönchengladbach on the 8th of this month. Gladbach is having a rough season, they are placed at the 14th position after 17 games.

The players are quarantined but it is still not clear if the players will miss the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday. Although Manuel Neuer will miss the match who is suffering from light symptoms.

Borussia Mönchengladbach also reported four positive coronavirus cases – Joe Scally, Mamadou Doucouré, Denis Zakaria and Keanan Bennetts. Although all of them are in quarantine. When asked about Gladbach’s current situation, Gladbach said:

Coronavirus hammering all the teams in Bundesliga

Almost all the clubs have been affected by the new variant. 13 out of 18 clubs in the Bundesliga have reported coronavirus infections.

Stuttgart will be without their two starters, Centre Back Konstantinos Mavropanos and attacking midfielder Mateo Klimowiczhas. Besides these two, Stuttgart’s Silas Katompa Mvumpa and Naouirou Ahamada will also be sidelined due to Coronavirus for their game against the last-place Greuther Fürth on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund is likely to miss their Centre Back Dan-Axel Zagadou against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt has also two players in quarantine with COVID-19.

Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin are also affected by the virus with positive test results in their respective camps. Hertha Berlin signed André Björkan in December and he will be among the quarantined players.
